Dolphin Living are pleased to announce that 333 Kingsland Road has been named a Civic Trust Award winner and has been selected as one of five projects nominated for a National Panel Special Award – the ‘judges’ favourite’ award and one of the most prestigious in the industry.
Congratulations to all those involved, particularly the teams at Henley Halebrown, Thornsett Structures, Thornsett, the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), The Benyon Estate and the Hackney New School Academy Trust for bringing the scheme to life.
The Civic Trust Awards are known as the only 360-degree awards scheme in the built environment which celebrate outstanding architecture, planning and design with the goal of ultimately improving the quality of life for local communities. It’s great to see our own purpose of providing affordable housing in central London recognised by an incredibly reputable organisation.
Reflecting the calibre of the awards, previous winners have included the Royal Festival Hall, Oxo Tower Wharf and The Scottish Parliament.
This year, the assessing team looked for schemes that use sustainable design and construction, have a positive impact on their local environment, and have well integrated and detailed access for all.
The judges report said that 333 Kingsland Road won for many reasons, but particularly because it represents an exemplary approach to hybrid architecture which combines different functions without losing the strengths of either the original educational or residential purposes. They recognised the complexities of the site and praised the ambition of the project team.
