Jon Gooding, CEO of Dolphin Living, attended the Conservative Party Conference earlier this month with the Westminster Property Association (WPA). Jon sits on the WPA Board and is Chair of the WPA Housing Committee.
Westminster City Council (WCC) organised a Planning Roundtable led by WCC’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Built Environment, Cllr Robert Davis MBE DL. This event was sponsored by the WPA in association with Great Portland Estates and the discussion centred on examining the present and future prospects for development and the built environment in the city.
Dolphin Living and the WPA sponsored a WCC fringe event, with Cllr Robert Davis leading a panel discussion. Dolphin’s Jon Gooding joined the panel, along with the Deputy Mayor for Housing James Murray and British Property Federation officer Lizzie Lambert. The Deputy Mayor used this discussion to reassure boroughs that Mayor Sadiq Khan is likely to use his powers to call in planning applications ‘sparingly’. The panel discussion was covered by Planning Magazine and can be viewed here
A one-to-one meeting was also held with Gavin Barwell MP, Minister of State for Housing, Planning. During this meeting Jon Gooding and the WPA addressed the pressures on the planning system and the critical role that central London development plays in both the London and national economy.
